Domains in .UA have their own policy — UA-DRP. Disputes under it are heard only by the WIPO Center. The main difference from UDRP: the registrant's bad faith has to be proven either at the time of registration or in the use of the domain — not necessarily both.

What people come to us with

  • someone has registered a domain with your trademark in .ua or com.ua and listed it for sale
  • a site on such a domain passes itself off as you: it copies the name and the logo and takes orders
  • a former partner, distributor or contractor registered the domain in their own name and will not give it back
  • the domain is confused with yours, and some of your clients end up on someone else's site
  • you are not sure whether to go to UA-DRP or whether it is simpler to negotiate

How we work

  1. Assessment. We check your mark, the domain and the site on it against the three elements of the policy. If the grounds are thin, we say so at once and propose another route — a letter to the registrant or negotiation.
  2. Complaint. We write the complaint in the language of the domain registration agreement — Ukrainian, Russian or English — with evidence of your rights and of the registrant's bad faith. We file it with the WIPO Center.
  3. Lock. Within two working days the registrar locks the domain: until the end of the dispute it cannot be transferred to anyone else.
  4. Response. The registrant has 20 days to respond; under martial law the period may be extended by up to 14 more days. If there is no response, the panelist decides on the complaint alone.
  5. Decision. The panelist issues the decision within 14 days of appointment: transfer the domain to you or cancel the registration.
  6. Transfer. After 10 working days the registrar transfers the domain — unless the registrant has filed a claim in a Ukrainian court in that time; under martial law the registrant may get up to 14 more days to file it. Then the transfer waits for the court's judgment, and the court case is run by the advocate on our team. The whole procedure takes 65–75 days — the WIPO Center's own estimate.

Which domains it covers

UA-DRP applies to second-level .ua domains and to the public and regional third-level zones: com.ua, net.ua, org.ua, in.ua, kyiv.ua and others. The zones joined the policy in stages from 2019, the last ones on 15 February 2025. The exception is the Dnipro public domains (dp.ua, dnipropetrovsk.ua, dnepropetrovsk.ua): UA-DRP does not reach them, and a demand letter or court remain. Before we start, we check that your zone is already on the list (the text of the policy).

A second-level .ua domain is registered only on the basis of a trademark in force — a Ukrainian certificate or an international registration with effect in Ukraine — whose word element matches the domain's spelling. So behind such a domain there is almost always someone's mark, and a dispute over the domain is often a dispute between two marks. We check both: yours and the one the domain was registered under. To obtain a .ua domain by decision, you must hold such a mark yourself and keep it in force.

What matters

The WIPO Center fee is the same as for UDRP: $1,500 for a single panelist for one to five domains.

A three-member panel for the same number of domains — $4,000.

There are few such cases: 8 in 2023, 16 in 2024, 20 in 2025. Between 80 and 94% of them end in transfer of the domain — not because winning is easy, but because only the clear-cut cases reach the Center. In 2025 the disputed domains were most often reseller sites (54%), sites passing themselves off as the mark owner (15%) and parked domains (15%). All figures as of October 2026.

Many .ua domains are serviced by NIC.UA, which is owned by the director of Broodex. If that is your case, we tell you at once: the registrar takes no part in the dispute — it only confirms the registration data to the Center, locks the domain and implements the decision, as the rules require — while we represent you as lawyers and do not use internal registrar data in the case beyond what the registrar passes to the Center under the procedure.

Describe the situation in a request — name the domain and your mark, and we will tell you whether there are grounds for UA-DRP.
